Contact your phone carrier for assistance with altering the amount of rings your phone makes before going to voicemail. This was happening to me and i read your post so i checked my watch, sure enough it was on do not disturb and my iphone didn't show that it was in that mode. My blackberry curve doesn't seem to ring or ring long enough for me to answer the phone.
Doing so using samsung kies or the phone's internal update check would result in a firmware modified error message which basically meant that could not update the phone the normal way.
As long as do not disturb is off, the iphone will ring and the iphone will get alerts, sounds, and messages. Media and alert sliders work, but ring volume cannot be adjusted. Couldn't have asked for more. In the worst cases, the phone might be physically damaged or infected.
